Who We Are...


The Brightwood Civic Group was established in 1985 and incorporated in 1992.  BCG obtained 501©3 status in 1993.  The group’s activities include:

  • Sponsor major children’s festival (Pumpkinfest) each October, which attracts 1,000 people. 
  • Initiated Woodland Avenue Revitalization Project
  • Maintain a major flower garden at the corner of Marshall and California Avenues, in conjunction with the Western PA Conservancy. 
  • Organized the Woodland/Shadeland Block Watch Committee, which has been meeting on a regular basis for the past 6 years. 
  • Clean up vacant lots in the neighborhood, and refer publicly owned parcels to Public Works and City Source for maintenance.
  • Maintain several planting areas, including a flower garden at 3050 Shadeland, and a newly-created shade tree and flower garden area in the 3000 block of Stayton St.
